A family in San Diego is seeking a compassionate, reliable, and emotionally intelligent nurse to join their support team during a challenging time.
Their 12-year-old son is currently in rehab for a brain injury (AVM) and the family is looking for a nurse who can provide steady, trusted nursing support both at the hospital and in daily life.
This role blends elements of nursing, personal assistance, caregiving, and active engagement with their son.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Hospital and family liaison
Take accurate notes on medical updates from doctors, nurses, and staff
Summarize and share updates in a group chat and shared document
Trained in trach and ventilator care, administration of medications and feeds through feeding
tube, and helping meet other medical needs
Assist nurses and staff with mobility (lifting him in and out of a wheelchair) and personal care
support, such as showering, teeth brushing, and general hygiene, as needed
Active participant in OT/PT, speech therapy, and schooling while at the hospital
Provide an active, engaging presence with their son through reading aloud, speaking with him,
playing music, showing favorite programs, and encouraging communication while at the
hospital
Support for the family by offering a calm, reassuring presence when they step away
Assist the mother with daily needs, including errands (groceries, laundry, beverages, supplies)
Help schedule appointments or personal tasks
Communicate with the family’s driver to coordinate transportation
Anticipate and respond to evolving logistical or household needs

Excellent communication and note-taking skills, with the ability to accurately convey medical
updates
Compassionate, patient, and emotionally resilient in sensitive situations
