Estate-Level Housekeeper – Rancho Santa Fe, CA (AH)

Job Description

The Estate-Level Housekeeper will be responsible for the daily care and upkeep of the residence, working closely with the homeowner and existing household service providers.

This person will serve as the homeowner's go-to household professional, ensuring the home remains impeccably maintained between deep cleanings and that day-to-day needs are handled efficiently.

The role includes housekeeping, laundry and ironing, occasional cooking, shopping and errands, light exterior/sitting-area cleaning, pet support, and assistance with entertaining and other needs as they arise.

Schedule & Hours

• Start Date: ASAP

• Schedule: Monday–Friday

• Hours: Approximately 8 hours per day

• Full-Time

• Compensation: $40–$45/hour DOE

• Employment Structure: 1099 preferred, pending homeowner's accountant's guidance

Responsibilities

Estate Housekeeping & Daily Maintenance

• Maintain the residence to a high estate-level standard on a daily basis.

• Perform both light and deep housekeeping as needed between scheduled professional deep cleanings.

• Dust, vacuum, mop, clean bathrooms, maintain kitchens, and keep all living spaces polished and orderly.

• Maintain bedrooms, guest areas, sitting rooms, and common areas.

• Ensure the home is consistently neat, clean, organized, and guest-ready.

• Pay close attention to details and proactively identify areas requiring attention.

• Perform light cleaning of appropriate outdoor areas and sitting spaces.

• Work in coordination with the existing deep-cleaning team, who will continue to handle periodic comprehensive deep cleans.

Laundry & Wardrobe Care

• Manage household laundry from start to finish.

• Wash, dry, fold, hang, and properly put away clothing and household linens.

• Iron and press garments and linens as needed.

• Maintain organized linen and laundry areas.

• Use appropriate care and handling for fine fabrics and household items.

Home Oversight & Organization

• Become familiar with the homeowner's routines, preferences, and standards.

• Serve as the primary day-to-day point person for needs related to the home.

• Oversee the home and ensure day-to-day needs are handled efficiently.

• Monitor household supplies and communicate when items need to be replenished.

• Keep household areas organized and functioning smoothly.

• Coordinate with outside vendors or service providers as needed.

• Notice and address small household issues before they become larger problems.

• Maintain a high level of discretion and respect for the homeowner's privacy.

Cooking & Kitchen Support

• Prepare occasional meals or simple food for the homeowner as needed.

• Assist with meal preparation and kitchen organization.

• Keep the kitchen clean and orderly following food preparation.

• Assist with food preparation or setup for gatherings and entertaining.

Shopping & Errands

• Grocery shopping and household shopping.

• Pick up and deliver items as needed.

• Handle local errands on behalf of the homeowner.

• Assist with household-related pickups, returns, and deliveries.

• Drive as needed for household and other errands.

Family & Pet Support

• Assist the homeowner with household-related needs as they arise.

• Be comfortable helping around children when appropriate.

• Provide care and support for the homeowner's Labrador.

• Must be comfortable walking a Labrador dog.

• Assist with pet-related errands or needs as requested.

Entertaining & Table Service

• Assist with preparing the home for guests and gatherings.

• Help with food and beverage setup.

• Provide table service when requested.

• Assist with keeping entertaining areas organized and presentable.

• Help with breakdown and reasonable cleanup following gatherings.

Requirements

• Previous experience working in a private estate or high-end household strongly preferred.

• Demonstrated ability to maintain a large, high-value residence to a consistently high standard.

• Strong housekeeping, laundry, ironing, and organizational skills.

• Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of responsibilities.

• Ability to recognize what needs to be done without waiting for direction.

• Comfortable working around an existing household staff/service team.

• Strong attention to detail.

• Professional, polished, discreet, and trustworthy.

• Comfortable with occasional cooking and entertaining support.

• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

• Comfortable walking and caring for a Labrador.

• Vetted professional references required.

• Advanced third-party background check required; $60 fee paid by the homeowner.
